Auchterarder Primrose 5 Auchterarder Primrose 5 Vale of Earn 0 From the first whistle the Primrose took this First Division league game to the Vale having them under constant pressure.

And it was no surprise they got their first goal within five minutes. This early goal seemed to deflate the Crieff lads seeing them uncharacteristically give the ball away and allowing Auchterarder to control the game.

A second goal came before half-time giving the Vale a real uphill task to try and turn the game back in their favour.

The visitors, to their credit, started the second period more up tempo giving the home side more to think about, but their defence stood solid giving nothing away and just when the away side seemed the more likely to score the Primrose scored against the run of play.

Again the Crieff lads had to lift their game, not easy with the ground conditions and the stop start nature of the game, but when they looked as if they might score Primrose scored a stunner.

From around 35 yards out the midfield player struck the perfect shot flying into the top corner of the net. The game was now Auchterarder’s for sure and they added a fifth goal near to the end.

Primrose adapted to conditions better and thoroughly deserved the victory. Vale must lift themselves for tonight’s (Thursday) league game v Craigie at Market Park, 6.30 p.m. kick-off, and Saturday for a Perthshire Cup semi-final away to Balmoral.
