ALLOA sealed their Championship status with a vital 1-1 draw away to Ayr United.

The Wasps turned in another typically heroic display, with key performances all over the park.

Here is how sports writer Jack Haugh rated the men on the day.

Neil Parry.....................7

Good stop to deny Shankland in the first half and he was solid throughout.

Jon Robertson..............8

Andy Graham joked after that he’s a better right back than midfielder and again Robertson was superb.

Liam Dick..................7

Bounced back from last week’s disappointment by putting in one of his best performances of the season.

Andy Graham.............8

Captain. Leader. Legend. Has been a stand out for Alloa all season and deserves his place in the Championship team of the year.

Scott Taggart.............8

An Alloa captain in the making? Taggart has excelled since switching to centre back and Saturday was no different; minus one sloppy bit of play which almost let Ayr in.

Kevin Cawley.............7

Wonderful vision to pick out Shields for the goal and worked hard to stifle Daniel Harvie’s threat.

Dario Zanatta (off 88)......8

Drove Alloa forward so often during the game and his direct running tormented Liam Smith. Will be delighted his miss proved meaningless.

Steven Hetherington.........8

Covered every blade of grass and his reading of the game was superb. Carried the ball out from defence to relieve pressure on his side.

Iain Flannigan (star man)......9

A class act. He was arguably the best player on the pitch.

Alan Trouten (off 75)............7

A different game than we are used to seeing as he dug in and got his knees muddy in the dirty side of the game. Lapped up the abuse from the home support.

Connor Shields (off 85).......8

Picked a fine time to have his best game in an Alloa shirt. Shields’ first time finish was excellent and his running intelligent.

Jack Hamilton (on 88)..........5

Last few minutes and ran his heart out.

Adam Brown (on 85)...........5

Sent on with a job to do and did it without complaint.

Jordan Kirkpatrick (on 75).....6

Worked so hard to help the team out when he came on.
