Glenrothes 2nd XV...13

Crieff and Strathearn travelled to the Kingdom of Fife on Saturday to play Glenrothes 2nd XV in the second league game of the season.

After a hard fought cup loss to Stirling University the previous week the Blue & Gold’s were determined to get back to winning ways.

There were a lot of unavailable players but as usual Crieff and Strathearn managed to get a very good squad out. It was a very young squad with talented players such as Andrew Conaboy and Euan Murchie continuing their foray into senior rugby. The squad was ably helped by returning veteran war horses Pierre Leger and Fermin Vidal and 16 players made the trip.

The local side started the game extremely well; there was some powerful loose play from the forwards who carried the ball extremely well. The offloading game was in force and this allowed a great platform for the backs strike from. Marcus Fenton was a menace at the breakdown and in tackle.

Richard Leckie was providing swift service to Captain Stuart Guntley who shipped the ball out into the wider channels for speedsters Ryan Flett, Andrew Tainsh, Rory Hart and Greg Coull to attack.

Glenrothes were no match for Crieff’s desire to play attractive and attacking rugby and the game was a relatively comfortable win for the Blue & Golds.

The scorers for Crieff were: Ryan Flett who bagged five tries and 10 conversions, Marcus Fenton who scored three, Rory Hart who scored two and Greg Coull.

It was a dominant performance and Crieff who were even still annoyed to concede two soft tries.
