Central AC’s Caitlin Edgar has been given a huge honour this week after Commonwealth Games Scotland selected her for the Achieve 2014 programme. This programme identifies young athletes with potential to perform well at the next Commonwealth Youth Games in 2015 in Samoa and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. At just 15-years-old, Caitlin is by far the youngest of the three athletes chosen and is selected along with 60 others across 20 sports. Caitlin will get exclusive behind the scenes access to experience the commonwealth games with visits to training camps, the athletes village and attendance at athletics sessions at the games themselves.

Caitlin’s achievements over the last year included winning an unprecedented four UK championship medals in a single season for hurdles, long jump and combined events. She also set two Scottish all time age group bests for long jump and hexathlon.

Commenting on her selection Caitlin said “I am honoured to have been selected and look forward to learning from the experience and improving and maturing as an athlete.”
