A 52-year-old man appeared in court charged with building an improvised bomb at a Perthshire holiday park.

The Logierait lodges near Pitlochry were evacuated last Wednesday (4 February) during an operation involving the police, fire service and an Army bomb squad.

Mark Crockett, of Falkirk, appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court facing a single charge under the 1883 Explosive Substances Act.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Crockett is alleged to have produced an improvised explosive device, namely a nail bomb, with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury.
