P7 pupils at Kilgraston School brought history to life with a re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings.

During this term the girls have been studying King Harold's final battle and the events surrounding it and history teacher Andrew Stewart thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for some active learning.

Taking place in the school grounds and in front of an audience of pupils and staff there was a slow-motion introduction followed by the battle itself and William the Conqueror's final victory over Harold.

Mr Stewart said: "This battle is one which many of us have learned about in school with 1066 being one of the most remembered dates from history lessons. Through this activity and their planning of this epic battle the girls will have gained a deeper understanding about this pivotal moment."
