Morrison’s Academy:

Morrison’s Academy’s Combined Cadet Force members, ranging in age from new S2 recruits up to S6, enjoyed the challenge of a field day at Dallerie on Friday. The day was comprised of a series of competitive head-to-head teamwork and leadership challenges. Cadets were tested on areas such as military knowledge, problem-solving, physical conditioning and tactical awareness. It was also an opportunity for each section to work effectively together in a variety of tasks. The consensus was that the cadets gained a huge amount from the day and participated with enthusiasm.

Morrison’s Academy rugby team played Lenzie Academy in Conference fixtures and won three of the four matches played, the highlight being the 76-0 victory at under 16 level. Tries were scored by Fraser Lindsay, Robbie Coffey, Craig Scott and Andrew El-Miligy with Dominic Doherty, Callum Jones, Ewan Jack and Calum Campbell each scoring two. Calum Campbell also kicked seven conversions with Jonathan Cook adding the final conversion. All teams are looking forward to playing Howe of Fife Rugby Club this weekend.

Morrison’s Academy P6 pupils enjoyed two days of outdoor learning on their recent residential trip. The 21 pupils and accompanying staff hiked from Loch Turret to Comrie Croft, enjoying the chance to explore the beautiful surroundings. An introduction to map reading and navigation as well as investigating local flora and fauna made for a varied walk. The following day involved learning about the Highland Clearances through a series of outdoor activities and challenges with Alastair Davidson of Ar Tir; this will now be linked to further curricular studies. Exploring aspects of the Gaelic language, bushcraft, traditional rope-making and traditional fire-making techniques were among the activities. The pupils were certainly enthusiastic, making the most of their opportunities.
