A CLACKS man is fundraising money for a family friend by appearing in video messages as Santa and shaving his hair and beard.

Gordon Guthrie, who has recorded Christmas messages for kids as Santa Claus for a number of years, is looking to raise £5,000 to be donated to Kidney Kids Scotland.

The money raised will go a long way to enabling children and families across the country get the treatment they need with minimal disruption to their lives.

That includes Luca Teven, a family friend of Gordon, who recently received a kidney transplant but is still struggling.

This year, on top of his usual Christmas messages, Gordon will also be auctioning off a special prize.

One lucky winner will receive a visit from Santa Claus himself on Christmas Eve to deliver the presents.

Then, on December 27, Gordon will be shaving his hair and beard to raise even more money.

Gordon said: “The people that are helping Luca and his family are Kidney Kids Scotland.

“Every year I do Santa videos for kids, especially last year during lockdown, I was doing custom video messages for free.

“This year, I’m doing the same thing but also a Santa Brave the Shave.”

On top of this, Gordon also has a whisky night which is sold out and he’s also doing another event on December 11 at Alloa East End Bowling Club.

He continued: “Every single penny that’s raised is going direct to Kidney Kids Scotland. We’re at 25 per cent of our target already and we’ve got donations coming in from all over the world: America, New Zealand, it’s just been unbelievable.”

Gordon will be living as Santa Claus throughout the whole month of December and joked he’s got the belly to go along with the hair and the beard.

Furthermore, Gordon’s good friend Gus Rennie will also be helping and having his head shaved on December 27 too.

Luca’s mum is a hairdresser and so she’s preparing Gordon’s beard before Luca shaves both men on the big day.

“This wee laddie,” Gordon continued. “We’ve known the family for a long time and he struggles but he’s such a brave wee boy, he’s fighting hard.”

Gordon is available to record Santa messages or attend parties for a donation only.

“We’re not charging anything,” he continued. “If they give me a pound, great. If they give me 50, even better.”
