AN ADORABLE golden retriever pup has been named after the popular Enchanted Forrest event.

Cosmos was born on January 21 this year, and she is a future ‘guide dog in training’.

Her name comes from the theme from last year’s Enchanted Forest event - an innovative sound and light display held in Fiskally Wood near Pitlochry.

Cosmos was named after the event earlier this month, as a tribute to the fact that the official Guide Dogs charity received a donation of £5,000 from last year’s ticket sales.

She is currently living with her puppy walker who will start to teach her the skills she will need as a future guide dog.

Ian Sim, chairman of The Enchanted Forest Community Trust, was told that the pup would be named Cosmos, and said: “We're delighted with this news, particularly in the current climate when everyone needs a little bit of cheering up, and thrilled that after her training Cosmos will be able to give a blind person a better quality of life and a freedom that without a guide dog they would not be able to have."

Kyla McVicar, business development manager at Guide Dogs Scotland, said: "We are extremely grateful to the Enchanted Forest Community Trust for their generous support.

“The birth and naming of Cosmos has been such fantastic news amongst all the current challenges we are facing as a society.

“We look forward to the day when she is able to provide a blind person with the ability to get out and about and enjoy some level of freedom.”

The Enchanted Forest event this year is still due to take place between October 1 and November 1, 2020, although The Enchanted Forest Community Trust is closely watching the coronavirus situation and following government guidance.
