A CARE at home company, which supports elderly and vulnerable people in the Wee County, is looking to hire those who lost employment due to the coronavirus outbreak.

HRM Homecare is creating 150 permanent carer posts and says this could help provide employment to people who previously worked in the hospitality or tourism sector, but lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The firm, based in Kilmarnock, has contracts around west and central Scotland – including in Clackmannanshire – and is set to simplify its training process to get people up to speed.

Lynn Laughland, managing director of the company, said: “Like the NHS, the care at home sector has a hugely vital role to play in today’s society.

“For many years we have helped those with severe life challenges continue to live well in their own homes.

“As everywhere, we are facing an unprecedented threat to our ability to carry out our jobs due to Covid-19.

“However, we at HRM Homecare remain steadfast in our determination to continue to help people who need our care most.

“We are striving to make sure we have the ability and capability to meet the demand that Covid-19 has brought and are following the current guidance so that every possible safeguard is in place to protect both our staff and our service users from infection from coronavirus as our carers go about their jobs.

“We are really keen to hear from those passionate about helping others and when the chips are down will show their metal.

“We will get through this. Together we are stronger.”

The 150 jobs are permanent but temporary work can also be arranged.
