MAINETENANCE works on the M876 will bring diversions over the next week.

The works one mile prior to junction 1 will start on Saturday, December 14, and are expected to finish on Friday, December 20.

Phase one of the scheme will see the full closure of the M876 eastbound carriageway with a signed diversion route up to the morning of Tuesday, December 17.

Northbound traffic on M80 intending to travel eastbound on M876 will be diverted from junction 5, directed to remain on this route to head for the M9 northbound to exit via junction 9, Stirling Services.

At Pirnhall Roundabout, traffic will take the fifth exit to join the M9 southbound carriageway and will proceed toward junction 8, Kinnaird Hill.

Motorists intending to travel to M876 junction 1 or 2 will be directed to continue in a southerly direction on the M9 to exit at junction 7 onto the M876 eastbound.

They will then take the exit at junction 3, Bowtrees Roundabout, to cross the motorway and join the M876 westbound.

On returning to M9 junction 7, traffic will rejoin the M9 but in a northerly/westerly direction and the diverted traffic will be advised to exit at junction 8 onto the M876, where the diversion will end.

Phase two will see the M876 westbound carriageway fully closed with signed diversions in place from the evening of Tuesday, December 17, to the morning of Friday, December 20.

Traffic heading west will exit the motorway at the junction 1 off-slip toward Falkirk onto the B905 and towards Checkbar Roundabout.

At the roundabout motorists will be advised to take the second exit towards the A8004. Traffic will continue travelling westbound on the A8004 before being directed to rejoin the M876 westbound at the junction 1 on-slip.

The works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled.
