OVER the last month, 21 teams from all 18 of Clackmannanshire's primary schools have battled it out for the 2019 Badminton league title.

The Badminton Leagues are part of the Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association (CPSSA) programme.

After 61 inter school matches and over 300 individual games, six schools qualified for the final held at Alloa Academy.

The Badminton Leagues are the culmination of a tremendous effort from over 170 pupils. This included practice at extracurricular badminton clubs, during school PE and also many pupils participating in local and regional badminton festivals supported by sports development.

This year's finalists were Alva, Deerpark, Menstrie, Park, Redwell and Strathdevon primaries. Each match consisted of two singles games, two level doubles games and one mixed doubles game.

After a fantastic event, Menstrie PS were crowned deserving champions with victory over Redwell Primary in the final.

In the third-fourth playoff match, Alva edged out Strathdevon to claim the bronze medals.

This year's finalists Menstrie and Redwell will now go on to compete in the Regional Primary Quaich competition, against two primary schools from Stirling, with the potential to qualify for the national event.
