SHORT weekly health walks are being set up in the Wee County for people new to the activity.

The Braveheart Association charity is organising the walks for those who would like to start going outdoors but do no feel they are quite ready to tackle a longer route.

May Richmond, walking development officer based at Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre, is setting up weekly activities which also look to improve people’s mental wellbeing.

She said: “These are for people who have probably never taken any walks before, they are short health walks and at a slower pace.

“We’d hope to progress people so they can take part in longer walks after that.

“All our walks are dementia friendly so they are suitable for everybody.”

A walk already took place yesterday, Tuesday August 20, from the Bowmar to the Black Devon Wetlands. It is set to take place each week between 12noon and 12.30pm.

Next Wednesday, August 28, will see the start of the Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre Circular Walks between 11am and 11.30am.

All walks are free with no booking needed and are followed by a cuppa and a chat.
