A WEE COUNTY man’s golfing fundraiser to support his niece as she goes through brain tumour treatment has been a smashing success.

Chris Paterson held a charity Texas Scramble Team event at Alloa Golf Club on Sunday, April 21.

The aim was to raise funds for four-year-old Eva, and her parents Michael and Jenna, who gave up their jobs to support their daughter.

Eva has been in and out of hospital for over a year to receive treatment for her condition.

Speaking to the Advertiser about his event, Chris said: “The event was for her to raise money for her continued support and treatment, and for my brother and his partner to help them with that.”

The 64 players who took part in the Texas Scramble enjoyed a day of glorious sunshine as they played.

They were also treated to a bacon roll and coffee in the morning, then a two-course meal afterwards.

After all that, the event moved to Tillicoultry Golf Club where everyone enjoyed some live music.

Chris said: “The weather was great because it was beautiful, so everyone was really happy and the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic.

“My niece was there a few hours too, so everyone got the chance to see her, and she was smiling.”

Chris has yet to count up how much money his event raised, but says he is sure it will be a “substantial amount” that he will announce as soon as he knows.

He also thanked Alloa and Tilly Golf Club for their support.
