HARD work and a decade of sheer dedication has landed one Wee County woman an honorary title.

Wendy Buchanan, who spent 10 years leading the Clackmannanshire Choral Society, retired from the role last April and was recently recognised for her achievements by becoming honorary president of the group.

The tile was bestowed on her by current president Viv Fairchild, while much-loved and respected retired conductor Sandy Sinclair, along with wife and choral member Elizabeth, also paid a visit to her home.

Well-known in the local musical circles, Wendy was also a member of Alloa Opera Society for many years.

She said: "This is an unexpected honour which I'm delighted to receive.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my years with the choir and wish them every success in the future."

A fine servant to the group, Wendy is now looking forward to moving to Erskine from her Sauchie home to stay nearer to her family.

Offering her best wishes on behalf of the choir, Viv was happy to present the certificate and said: "Wendy was a great ambassador for the choir in her years as President and I look forward to continuing her good work."

Former conductor Sandy Sinclair was also there to pass on best wishes, following his own retirement from the society last year.

The stalwart led the group in music for 20 years with Mike Nolan, former accompanist and conductor with Stirling Male Voice Choir, since taking over and Lawrence Wright joining as accompanist.

Next for the society will be the Spring 2019 concert, set to take place on Saturday, April 27, from 7.30pm at St Mungo's Parish Church in Alloa.

Rehearsals are taking place at the same venue on Monday nights from 7pm.
