A WEE COUNTY woman has been jailed for six months after being found in possession of drugs for the sixth time.

Kim Madden was caught with the drugs at her home on Zetland Street, Clackmannan, on February 9 after police received “confidential information”.

When officers raided the house they found a single gram of cocaine in a bag worth £40, which Madden claimed was for a night out she was going on that night.

Claire McCarron, defending the 45-year-old at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday, said that her client uses drugs recreationally when stressed.

Ms McCarron added that Madden cares for her elderly mother, going to her house at 7am every day to wash, dress and feed her. She also has a 21-year-old dependant son who she lives with.

Sheriff Wyllie Robertson told Madden, however, that “there comes a point” when you stop getting chances, citing her half dozen previous convictions for possession and one for drug dealing.

“This is that point for you,” he told the tearful Madden.

She was sentenced to six months in prison.
