ALVA Academy has been closed early to pupils as a result of a power cut.

The Wee County town was hit by the outage at mid-morning on Wednesday, September 26, and as a result, pupils have been sent home with a message to parents to alert them.

A Clackmannanshire Council statement said: "Due to power being removed in the Alva area by SP Energy Networks to make emergency repairs, there is no power at Alva Academy, which is causing issues with areas such as water supply. "The school is therefore closing to pupils.

"Parents have been sent a group text to inform them, and asked to confirm that their child can go home.

"School transport will be on site for those pupils who use it.

"Scottish Power expect the power to be reconnected to the area today, safety checks will then be carried out."
