THE Thistles in Stirling will be hosting a month-long Summer of Sport inside the shopping centre, starting this Monday.

Taking place outside Boots between 12pm and 4pm daily, the programme will give budding champions the chance to take on four different sports, at no cost.

Launching on July 9 and running until Friday July 13 will be a week of tennis fun, with free mini-lessons and tournaments.

There will also be an opportunity to catch this year’s Wimbledon Championship Women’s and Men’s Finals live on July 14-15 with deckchairs and the centre’s giant 65-inch plasma TV provided.

Pick up a golf club and aim for a hole in one on the Summer of Sport mini-golf course which runs across the second week from Monday, July 16, to Sunday, July 22, before visitors can take the chance to show off their All-Star style as basketball takes centre stage in week three - July 23-29.

Finally, between Monday, July 30 and Sunday, August 5, it’ll be bow and arrow at the ready as Summer of Sport concludes with some archery fun.

Gary Turnbull, centre director of the Thistles, said: "Summer of Sport promises to bring plenty of energetic fun to Thistles over the next month and will guarantee the centre as a must-visit destination for families.

"Starting next week with a fantastic tennis takeover, which includes the unmissable Wimbledon Championship Finals broadcast on our giant screen, there will be endless free entertainment running daily until the 5th of August and everyone is invited."
