THE head chef and owner of Knock Castle Hotel & Spa has been recognised with a top accolade at this year's Scottish Food Awards.

Jason Henderson was presented with the Flavour of Scotland Chef of the Year prize at a glittering ceremony held in the King’s Hall of The Principal George Hotel in Edinburgh.

The Scottish Food Awards & Academy recognises and celebrates excellence in the food and hospitality trade and Jason was also nominated in two other categories: Country Hotel Chef of the Year and Casual Fine Dining Chef of the Year.

The chef said he was thrilled with the recognition he and the hotel received.

He added: "As always, I was delighted just to be nominated, but to win is the icing on the cake of what has been a really great year for us all and we’re looking forward to a busy summer at the hotel.

"I am grateful to the Scottish Food Awards & Academy for the award and would like to thank them and everyone who has supported me.

"The award will look great on the wall!
