COMRIE Development Trust welcomed a new board with the New Year, as they met for the first time this month.

Within their meeting they appointed David McCall as chairman, who is already looking forward to developing and bettering the area.

David went to school in Crieff before leaving to study in London. Since returning to Scotland eight years ago he has been involved in a number of projects in the local community through his work with Perth College and the University of the Highlands and Islands.

He has worked on video production and editing with the Comrie Millenium Pathway group, with Comrie Primary School on the production of the Heart of Strathearn DVD and with young musicians and bands within Comrie on the WannaB music initiative.

With a number of fresh ideas for the area, the new chairman would like to develop local employability and work placement opportunities, better communication through improved access to Information Communication Technology in the community and look at the promotion of safer driving and eco-driving.

Having previously volunteered on the Finance Working Group, Bob Hughes has taken on the role of treasurer, replacing Peter Jones. Peter has moved to vice-chair to assist David and Claire Mullan is now company secretary. Claire can be contacted at their office on Dunira Street, Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm on 01764 670769 or by emailing cmullan@comrie.org.uk.
