Large scale music events were given the green light in England earlier than Scotland and have a few have already gone ahead in recent weeks, including a Download pilot, Tramlines and Latitude.

Becky Ayres, managing director of Sound City, said: “It has been incredible to see such a rapturous return for live music across the UK, and it’s only raised our excitement levels for the return of Sound City in 2021.

"Bringing such a diverse and thrilling lineup to the heart of Liverpool this October is something we’re dead proud of - returning to the original stages and vital venues in the city centre we all need to support at this time.

"With our best lineup to date, and so many exciting artists to discover - I can’t wait to get stuck in and create huge new memories this October.”

David Pichilingi, Sound City founder, is hoping to see as many Scottish music fans as possible descend on Liverpool in the autumn.

He previously told The Weekender: "We always aim to out on what we consider to be the most exciting emerging talent from all over the UK with a particular focus on the north. We have always had a lot of Scottish acts taking part – this year seems more than ever.

"Scotland consistently churns out great acts and great music. Also, we love having you down here. Scousers and Scots share a lot in terms of attitude and pride."

He added: "There is no city on this planet quite like Liverpool. If you have never been then don't take my word for it – come and experience how we do things in Liverpool."
