ALLOA ATHLETIC have boosted their strike force for the new season with the signing of fans’ favourite Greig Spence.

The 25-year-old returns to the Wasps for a fourth stint at the club, having been released by Raith Rovers after Alloa pipped the Kirkcaldy side to a place in next season’s Championship.

The signing of Spence has delighted fans who expressed their delight on social media when the move was confirmed on Monday afternoon.

A well-known face at Alloa, Spence was first signed from Rangers where he played as a schoolboy, before heading off to Celtic for a six-figure sum.

He has scored more than 100 goals in just over 300 appearances in his career, and will give boss Jim Goodwin a strong option at the top of the pitch when his team takes on the likes of Dundee United and Partick Thistle in what will be a tough league next season.

The Wasps gaffer spoke to the club website to express his delight at the capture as he confirmed that the club had also signed David Galt from Queens Park.

He said: “Adam and David give us great energy and quality in the forward areas. They are two very fit boys who will fit in well with the dynamics of the group of players already at the club. I'm looking forward to working with both of them.”

He continued: “Greig, is a player we all know well, he's a proven goal scorer and I believe no matter what level he plays at he will score goals, he has a great knack of being in the right place at the right time.

“He's well liked within the dressing room and I'm sure he'll settle back in as if he's never been away. I'm looking forward to working with him again in the coming weeks.”
