WASPS skipper Andy Graham dedicated his side’s victory over Ayr United to the fans who turned out to support them.

Alloa's final home game of the regular season was played in front of a bumper crowd at the Indodrill Stadium.

And the captain says the players are grateful for the backing of such loyal fans.

Graham told Advertiser Sport: “The Alloa fans have been amazing. They have been committed enough to come out and watch us, even when the game is on TV and it’s easy to just sit in the house and watch it.

"They’ve come out in numbers and backed us, and it’s great to get the three points for them.

“Ayr brought an incredible support and they were very vocal. That played a part in their goal and the crowd really got behind them at that point.

"It made it really difficult for us. But we love an atmosphere and both sets of fans were fantastic.”

Graham reckons Alloa’s first-half performance was crucial in helping them to victory last Sunday.

He said: “In the first half we played really well. It’s as good as we’ve played in a number of weeks and I thought we deserved to go in in the lead.

"I felt we could kick on in the second half but Ayr made a couple of changes and put us under a lot of pressure.”

The captain says momentum is on Alloa’s side going into the playoffs, and he wants to keep that going with another win in their final League One match of the season at Raith Rovers on Saturday.

Graham added: “You want to go into the playoffs with momentum and we won’t be giving anything less than 100 per cent next week. We had a good win last week, a good win this week and we want to go and build on that now.

“Last year we were in the playoffs with a good few weeks to spare and I think that had a negative impact on us because we were just toddling along waiting for them, but this year I think we will be ready for it.”
