ALLOA star Calum Waters admitted the squad are frustrated with their habit of going behind in games after they were forced to fight back to snatch a late draw with leaders Livingston.

The Wasps have come back from a goal down in no less than half of their last ten games, but Waters says it’s a trend which has to stop.

And the full-back says that on another day, last Saturday’s stalemate would have gone his side’s way.

Waters told Advertiser Sport: “It is definitely frustrating that it is taking us going a goal behind before we really start playing. We are all getting frustrated because we know we are capable of winning these games, but we have to stop giving teams a head start. On Saturday we went in front which shows progress but we conceded two goals we could have done better with. But we fought back again and on another day, we could have won it. We had our chances and we had them on the ropes at the end.”

Waters says it’s now time for the Wasps to start taking maximum points from games, and he reckons they have the character to start picking up the results they need.

He said: “I thought we played well and deserved to win the game but we were sloppy at the start of the second half. We have been doing that a lot in recent weeks. But we got ourselves back into the game like we have done so often in recent weeks. Now it’s time for us to start turning draws into wins. It feels like we are saying that every week but it is so important. One of the main positives we can take is the fact that we kept fighting and managed to claw our way back into the game. We know we are never beaten. We have come from behind a lot and that is testament to the boys. There are a lot of characters in the dressing room, and that is definitely a good thing.”

Alloa now have a weekend off before their next game against Queen’s Park, and Waters says it is crucial that they stay match-sharp.

He added: “We have a weekend off now which gives us a chance to regroup but we will probably have a bounce game to keep us ticking over. It’s important that we stay sharp and make sure we are ready for the game at Queen’s Park.”
