BEACONHURST girls’ tennis squad have won the Scottish final of the British Tennis Schools Championship.

The team beat rivals Strathallan School in the final earlier this month and will now travel to Sunderland in November for the next round of the annual AEGON Team Tennis competition – the North of Britain final.

Judith Graham, Beaconhurst School’s director of sport, said: "It was a good day of tennis and we saw fantastic play and great matches from the girls.

"They are a real credit to the school and we’re now looking forward to the next round of the contest."

The winning team was made up of Kirsty Robertson, Katie Bradley, Eilidh Davidson and Dunblane tennis ace Andy Murray’s cousin Cora Erskine.

Following the event, S1 pupil Eilidh travelled to Glasgow to compete for Scotland in the 2017 Four Nation’s Junior Championships held at Scotstoun Leisure Centre.

Fellow pupil Connor Thomson (S6) also represented his country at the championships, while Chris Horgan (S3) was first reserve in the Scottish Squad for his age category.
