REPORT from Stirling Golf Club:

Two hundred and twenty players competed on Friday and Saturday in the Tennent Cup Stableford.

The CSS was 35 points on Friday and 36 points Saturday.

Frank Gordon was rewarded for his recent investment in lessons from pro Chris Kelly winning the Tennent Cup by a one point margin from Hugh Waters who finished strongly.

Frank's highlight was a rare eagle net albatross which was also a magic 2 at the par 4 4th hole to record 5 points.

Nine pars and nothing worse than a bogey on the card was the consistency Frank needed with a card littered with 2 and 3 point holes.

A handicap reduction to 12 was also given to Frank.

Hugh Waters had a great inward nine of 23 points with six 3 points including net birdies at the last 3 holes in an inward 38.

Robert Fraser was 3rd on 40 points beating Derek Bond on the better inward half (bih) who had the consolation of a handicap reduction to 12.

Vice president Ian Morrison won Class 3 on the bih from Ian Carmichael both players returning 40 points.

Ian recorded 3 points at holes 2,9,12,16 and 18 and a birdie net eagle at the 5th for 4 points.

It was a game of two half's for Ian Carmichael after an impressive outward nine of 43-playing off 26 h'cap- for 24points Ian could only muster 16 points on the inward nine.

Michael McFarlane jnr was 3rd on 39points holding off Colin Taylor on the bih.

Gregor Roberts won Class 1 with 42points. Level par after 10holes- playing off 9- with 26 points accrued put Gregor in a great winning position but came home in 18 points.

Gregor did record gross birdies at the 5th, 9th and 18th holes for 11 points.

Alan Dryden was back in form with a one under par 71 with birdies at the 1st, 16th and 17th in half's of 19 and 22 points for 2nd place.
