M&M Cup
BANNOCKBURN progressed to the next round of the M&M cup with a solid win and a clean sheet.
From the start, Burn were the dominant team, often encamped around the visitors 18-yard line.
Steven Knox had the clearest shot from distance but it sailed over.
Not until mid-way through the half did Burn fall out of the game and Kilsyth accepted more possession.
Allan Green worked hard to engineer his own chance but shot over.
David Donaldson and Darren Walker provided the guile and industry without concluding in a goal
And so it was a goalless at half time with a Kilsyth free kick from outside the box that ballooned over the bar their only opportunity.
Within four minutes of the restart, Ross Cavanagh shot deflected over the keeper for the opener.
Harry Bruce replaced Knox and new boy Sean Lynch replaced Allan Green
Lynch made an instant impact with three separate defence splitting passes sending Nick McIntosh through on goal.
On 75 minutes, Stuart Maitland ran through the defence and found Mr Composure David Donaldson who slotted home Burn’s second from 14 yards.
Toward the end the Kilsyth attacker slipped Burn keeper David Tait and Andy McGown stopped the net bound shot.
Meanwhile, there were no winners this week on the lucky numbers.
This Saturday, Burn are away to Haldane for a 2pm kick off.
Thanks are given to Joey Farquharson for an excellent post-match curry.
