STIRLING COUNTY return to BT Premiership action this Saturday, with a visit to the capital to play Watsonians.

County, who are currently in seventh position in the league, only three points above the relegation places, will be looking to complete a season-double over the Edinburgh side, having won 21-19 at home in October.

And with only three league matches remaining, a win at Myreside would ease County’s relegation concerns.

However, County will be without their Scotland Under-20 players, Calum Hunter-Hill, Adam Nicol, Fergus Bradbury and Craig Pringle, who are likely to be included in the national age-grade squad for the Six Nation’s match in France this weekend.

Kick-off this Saturday at Myreside is 3pm.

Meanwhile, in the BT Cup, Stirling County have been drawn at home to Boroughmuir in the quarter final to be played at Bridgehaugh on Saturday, March 4.

The winner will travel to either Melrose or Heriot’s in the semi final of the national knockout competition.

County’s re-arranged BT Premiership home match against Melrose has now been scheduled for Saturday, March 11.

Elsewhere, Stirling County Under-18s will defend the National Youth League Cup against their old adversaries from Ayr at BT Murrayfield this Friday, February 10.

Under the guidance of head coach Matt McCrandles, the young stars have already won the Scottish Rugby’s Under-18s President’s Club Conference championship, having beaten the best club sides in the country.

Ayr Under-18s pushed County all the way in the league, and will be a tough test for the Bridgehaugh boys.

Admission to the match is free and County are hoping for a large travelling support to come along to the national stadium and encourage the lads to another victory.

Stirling County have won the Under-18 National Youth League Cup more times than any other team, with six victories in the past ten years, and many of the young players have gone on to play for County’s 1st XV, professional teams Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby and for Scotland Under-20s and national side.

Club officials are reminding fans there are pre-match lunches available before County’s 1st XV home BT Premiership matches at Bridgehaugh.

The next lunch is on Saturday, February 18, at 1pm before County v Heriot’s.

Cost is £15 for members and £25 for non-members, but includes a two-course lunch, match admission and a seat in stand.

Those wishing to attend can contact either Alastair Cunningham, at alandishbel2@btinternet.com, or Emma at the club office on either 01786-478866 or at emma@stirlingcounty-rfc.co.uk
