Milton 1 Dumbarton 2

Dumbarton started the better team and put Milton under pressure early on.

McEwen made a few good stops to deny the visitors taking the lead. In the 15th minute they opened the scoring and it was a bad goal to concede as it could easily have been avoided.

Milton got over the early onslaught and slowly but surely eased themselves back into the game. Taylor, Burns and Shaddick started to cause Dumbarton problems, Jon and Mathew Cooper started to dictate from midfield, then a slip in defence enabled Dumbarton to snatch a second goal.

Milton looked a different team in the second half as they went at Dumbarton time and time again. To be fair to the visitors they defended very well.

McKinley went close with a header, then Burns had an effort that tricked past the post, Taylor pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go. The keeper saved well from Taylor then Mitchell but the clock ran out on Milton and Dumbarton went into the semifinal of the Douglas Smith League Cup.

Tomorrow, November 5, Milton are away to Bowhill Rovers in the third round of the Scottish Cup.
