RADIO stars Cassi and Amber are getting ready to join thousands of women who are preparing to take on this year’s Simplyhealth Great Women’s Run.

The Clyde 1 hosts headed to Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow - where the iconic event finishes - as they called on others to hit enter the 10K run on June 10.

The event goes through the city’s West End and along the quayside taking in some of the city's most well-known buildings including Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow University, Glasgow Science Centre and the SSE Hydro before finishing in Kelvingrove Park.

Local bands and Scottish pipers will also be on hand to help motivate runners all the way to the finish line.

Cassi Gillespie, who presents traffic and travel on the Bowie at Breakfast show, is supporting Cash For Kids.

She said: “With just over three weeks to go, we both can’t wait to get to the starting line.

“It’s such a fantastic and well-supported event and is a real privilege to be running alongside other women, many of whom are raising money for fantastic causes.

“Working in radio we’re obviously looking forward to catching some of the great bands lining the route.”

Amber Livingstone - who presents the home run travel - added: “We’ve been training together to push each other on. There’s always more motivation if you’re doing it with someone. We say we’re not competitive but I reckon a bit is probably creeping in now.”

Finishers will receive a special goody bag including a medal, technical T-shirt, water and other rewards.
