As the city gears up for the largest Pride event in Scotland, the cast from Netflix’s most-watched original series ever has taken the time to record and send Glasgow an uplifting message.

As the TV and film streaming service celebrates some of its most famous LGBTQI+ characters and plotlines in time for Pride, the girls from Orange is the New Black have discussed all things rain, Irn-Bru - and a right good scran.

Uzo Aduba - who plays Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren - gets the message off to a true Weegie start, by saying: “Happy Glasgee Pride, Scots.

“First things first - is it going to rain today? Well - probably.

“But, that’s not going to stop any of you wee lassies and laddies from having the best time, right?”

Laverne Cox - who plays transgender character Sophia Burset - chips in: “Get yourself over to Glasgow Green to glug Irn-Bru, get some scran, and see B*Witched doing their finest jigs.”

Glasgow Times:

In a hilarious moment, ‘Taystee’ - played by Danielle Brooks - adds somewhat confused: “And remember, lang may yer lum reek - and happy Pride!” before all three burst into a fit of laughter at the traditional Hogmanay greeting.

Tickets have been selling fast for the 21st annual event in Glasgow Green on August 19 and 20.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will be opening the event on Saturday as  the first First Minister to ever open the event.

The theme this year is #BraveEveryday which is to acknowledge the importance of families, whether biological or for those who have created families made up of friends and other loved ones.

“Whatever your family might be, we want you to join in the celebration and acknowledge everyone who is #BraveEveryday,” organisers have said.
