Strathallan eco-warriors celebrate waste reduction
BRACO and Greenloaning residents celebrated a successful Zero Waste Fortnight last week.
Eco-warriors from the two villages and surrounding area successfully reduced their waste to landfill by one and a half tonnes.
Householders increased their recycling by 15 percent compared to before the two-week campaign, and cut the amount of general waste going into their green-lidded bins by 14 percent, through reducing and reusing as much as possible.
The Ardoch Development Trust was presented a cheque of £117 from Perth and Kinross Council - the cost of sending this tonnage of waste to landfill.
Jodi Simpson, Chair of the Ardoch Development Trust welcomed the donation, saying: "We are pleased that our community has responded to the Zero Waste messages, and has worked together to make this campaign successful. The Ardoch Development Trust is intending to put the money towards the installation of a permanent Christmas-tree stand as an addition to a proposed landscaping project undertaken by the Ardoch Gardening Club."
