HUNDREDS of Wee County young people took to the West End Park recently to test themselves as part of a cross country event.

The Primary and Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships took place at the Alloa park on February 28 and saw a great turnout on the day.

Held in the morning, the primary for pupils in years 5-7 was part of the Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association annual programme.

A total of 287 young people took part, representing 18 primary schools at a one-mile event.

In the afternoon, a race took place as part of the Clackmannanshire Secondary Schools Sports Association annual programme.

Around 70 secondary pupils took part from the Wee County's three secondaries, completing a 1.5 mile course.

Medals were presented for podium finishes on the day.

  • P5 Boys: M MacKay, Muckhart Primary School
  • P6 Girls: E Nicol, Clackmannan Primary School
  • P6 Boys: A Judge, Redwell Primary School
  • P7 Girls: G Comrie, Redwell Primary School
  • P7 Boys: D McAllister, St Serf’s Primary School
