THE Clackmannan and District Brass Band has finally got its hands on its framed banner, which celebrates them being voted Band of the Year 2023.

As reported by the Advertiser, the band was chosen as the Band of the Year in their respective category, capping an incredible year of hard work.

As reward for their efforts, they have now been presented with a framed banner which details their achievement.

Band president Deborah Ross was beaming with pride as they accepted the banner, laying praise on everyone who has helped with band over the last year.

“That’s been 12 years since we were last Band of the Year,” she said. “It’s a proud moment in that it’s been a long road in getting to that stage.

“We’ve built the band up and we’ve brought a new conductor Paul in last year and we wanted to push that extra bit further and get out in public as we possibly could.

“We took part in gigs, local concerts and contests and Band of the Year reflects the contesting side of things.

“It’s been great to just get the banner and know that all our hard work has been worth it.”

The Clackmannan and District Brass Band performed at more than 20 festive engagements last winter, with their hard work culminating in their big Christmas show, featuring all three sections of the band.

The band now looks ahead to their national contest in March, which depending on their performance, will decide if they remain in the 2nd Section or if they are promoted/relegated to a different division.
