It will be the end of an era this Saturday when a long-running country music club hosts its Final Round-up.

The Prairie Star Country & Western Club have brought country music and dancing to the Wee County for many years, but following the demise of their most recent venue, the Weir Social and Recreation Club in Alloa's Church Street in August last year, they've been without a home.

Now they're hosting a final get-together this Saturday, January 13, a chance for all their country friends to say goodbye - and a last chance to enjoy great country music in each other's company.

The Final Round-Up will be held in Lodge Ladywell in Tullibody, from 7pm until midnight, and it's sure to be a night to remember.

'The Lady Sheriff' Dorothy Hoggan told the Advertiser: "With three acts, dancing, gunslinger shootout and loads of good ole’ country music and memories spanning 50 years, it will be a kinda sad, but a 'yeehaw night' as we Keep it Country!"

Performing on the night will be local favourites Back-2-Country, Falkirk-based Carson City, and country singer Bill Alexander.

"These great acts have had a long association with the Prairie Star and the previous Treble C, which was held in Tullibody Working Men’s Club in the 1970s, all started by dedicated country fans from Tullibody," said Dorothy.

"Many bands have featured on our stage since then, from USA, England, Wales and Ireland, and all have been welcome. We've had all-day festivals in Devonvale Hall in Tillicoultry, a big hit with our country fans, and we've gone to festivals at Butlins in Ayr, and on Millport, bus outings to other clubs, and Country Booze Cruises on the Maid of the Forth on the River Forth.

"I will say it’s been a blast, good music, dancing, fun and laughs along the way, all the friends we have met, loved and lost remain in our hearts as they were part of it all too. We have our smart Gunslingers who look and dress the part too, firing blanks of course! There’s too many experiences to speak off, a whole lifetime of great country music and a country family!

"Hope to see y’all, and mind the boots and Stetsons folks!"
