APPLICATIONS are now open for the Sound of Young Scotland Award, dedicated to recognising artists between the ages of 18-25.

Now in its third year, the Sound of Young Scotland Award aims to recognise up and coming artists across the country.

Eligible artists must be aged between 18-25, have never released an album and be born/based in Scotland for the past two years.

The winner of the award will be provided with vital financial support to enable the creation of their debut album.

Morag Macdonald, youth music initiative manager at Creative Scotland, said: “Scotland’s youth music scene is brimming with talented young musicians who are continuing to push boundaries and genres, creating music that feels fresh and uniquely Scottish.

“With support from the Scottish Government, the youth music initiative is delighted to support this award that not only removes the financial barriers to making a debut album, but provides access to industry professionals who can offer tailored guidance and support.”

The winner will be unveiled at the Scottish Album of the Year Award ceremony on Thursday, October 26, at Stirling’s Albert Halls.

Apply via sayaward.com before midnight on August 14.
