MID-SCOTLAND and Fife MSP, Liz Smith, has welcomed engagement from Scottish Water over future work on the A823 at Glendevon.

The A823 connects Auchterarder with Clackmannanshire and is a vital artery for communities in South Perthshire.

The road was recently closed on two separate occasions to allow for repairs from Scottish Water. Local residents were not notified, however, and many road users were faced with long diversions and delays.

The MSP received a number of letters from unhappy constituents who felt let down by the level of communication from Scottish Water.

Following Smith’s correspondence with Scottish Water, the public sector body have confirmed that a public meeting will be held to explain the works and to identify the best way forward for reducing disruption.

Ms Smith said: “I am pleased that Scottish Water have decided to engage with residents over future road works.

“The A823 is a vital artery for residents in the area and if it is to close, even temporarily, then the people who use it should be given adequate warning.”
