OVERNIGHT maintenance works will bring lane closures to Blackford next week.

A section of the A9 at the village is set to benefit from upgrades with works beginning on Monday, August 14.

The job is expected to be done over three nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am and includes the resurfacing of the central reservation and new road markings.

For safety, lane closures with temporary prohibited right turns will be in place for the duration of the improvement works each night.

Diversion routes will be available via Queen Victoria Interchange, north of Dunblane, in the south and Loaninghead Interchange in the north for motorists looking to use the junction to and from Blackford.

The lane closures and junction restrictions will be lifted during the day to minimise disruption.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland north east representative, said: “Safety is a top priority for both BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland and this scheme is part of our commitment to that.

“The improvements to this junction will help increase road safety, making it easier and much safer for motorists to make right-hand turns across the junction.

“The works are being carried out overnight to minimise delays and our teams will do all they can to complete the improvements as quickly and safely as possible.

“We encourage motorists to plan their journey in advance and allow some extra time.”
