PERTH RACECOURSE will be putting on a double fixture tonight and tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, May 17 and 18.

Perth's On-Course Bookmakers Evening is taking place tonight with discounted tickets at just £5

The Class 4 £10,000 Handicap Hurdle over three miles is the most valuable race on the card and is promised to be the highlight of the night.

Completing the event will be delicious local produce and a selection of artisan ales and craft beers from breweries in Perthshire.

Then tomorrow, the annual Ladies Day will be taking place with prizes for Best Dressed Lady and Male as well as Best Hat with awards presented by celebrity stylist Gok Wan and Miss GB Ursula Carlton.

Ursula, 26, scooped the title last year and said: “Holding the title of Miss Great Britain has been such a fantastic experience, giving me the opportunity to attend some wonderful events across the UK.

“I’m honoured to attend Perth Racecourses’ Ladies Day to crown the Best Dressed Male and Best Hat, I’ve heard that the style stakes are extremely high at Perth and I can’t wait to see all the glamorous ladies and gents.”

The prize for the lady who has the most impressive outfit is £2,000.

Hazel Peplinksi, chief executive at Perth Racecourse, said: “Year on year, our Ladies Day continues to attract an enthusiastic crowd who really do dress to impress.

“Our VIP tickets have completely sold out, and we are looking forward to welcoming our stylish guests to the track.

“Sponsored by St John’s Shopping Centre, our Best Dressed Lady is the biggest best dressed cash prize in Scotland, and we are thrilled that Gok Wan will be doing the honours and crowning this year’s winner.

“I have a feeling that the competition might be even stiffer than usual.”

A series of live entertainment will also keep people busy during the day with Tay FM's Stuart Webster hosting the main stage.

The Soul Kings will kick starting the proceedings with a performance in the morning while a Take That tribute will be closing the show.

Grandstand tickets for the Ladies Day are available for £25, gates open at 11.30am – arrive early for a chance to win Best Dressed Lady. First race is scheduled for 2pm with the last race at 5.20pm.
