IT WAS a clean sweep when young players travelled to a competition in Croatia with Central Squash earlier this month.

The youngsters competed in the Croatian Junior Open, part of the Junior European Circuit, with the help of coach Phil McWilliams between May 5 and 7.

Anne Halliday of Crieff Squash Club won the girls' U13 event while Kyle Penman of Bridge of Allan Squash Club collected the trophy in the boys' competition in the same age group.

Rowan Niven of Dunblane Squash Club came fifth in the U13 girls' contest with Jamie Cargill, Crieff, Felix Wood and Oliver Hunter, both Bridge of Allan, finishing sixth, ninth and 11th out of the 21 players that took part in the boys' tournament.

Duncan Hegarty of Dunblane and Ally Findlay of Dollar squash clubs finished 11th and 12th in the U15 boy's contest.

All players beat their rankings for the tournament.

The junior players wanted to thank all their sponsors – Physiofocus, and Halloumi – as well as everyone who contributed to fundraising events which supported them to travel to the tournament.
