PUPILS from Morrison's Academy enjoyed a trip to the award-winning New Lanark Visitor Centre.

P6 students learnt about the story of the cotton mill village, which was founded in the 18th century.

New Lanark quickly became known under the enlightened management of social pioneer Robert Owen, who provided decent homes, fair wages, free health care and a new education system for the villagers in addition to the first workplace nursery school in the world.

Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, New Lanark gave pupils a real insight into life there in 1820.
