STRATHALLAN SCHOOL has raised thousands for charity this year.

Pupil Christopher Blair was proud to hand over a cheque to Cancer Research UK for the sum of £4,500.17.

Throughout the academic year, the pupils' Charities Committee had been collecting cash for the good cause and it was thanks to Christopher and the generosity of donors that such a large sum was raised.

He had a main part in the school's production of Les Misérables as Inspector Javert and stepped out of character at the curtain call each night the show was on to address the audience and ask for their support.

This combined with the amount raised through other initiatives resulted in the pupils handing the cheque over to Cancer Research's local fundraising manager Dorothy Rodger last week.

She said: “A huge thank you to all the Strathallan School charities Committee and all the pupils, staff and parents who helped raise so much for Cancer Research UK. The work of the charity relies entirely on voluntary donations and to raise this much money is a fantastic achievement.”
