SCOUTS in Muthill have been working to uncover their history before an open day this weekend.

The group has managed to find a wealth of information about the early years of the organisation locally by speaking to former members and checking the archives of local newspapers.

They have managed to trace the group's origins back to 1912.

Former members also generously handed in old photographs and other items of interest, including a thumb-stick from the 3rd World Rover Moot in 1939 at Monzie Castle as well as a 1950s Scout uniform.

The open day is being held on Saturday, May 13, between 1pm and 4pm at Muthill Village Hall, where everyone is welcome.

Those who would like to share old photos can call group leader Sandy Black on 01764 681 730.
